Trailer Out: Watch Madhuri`s sinewy avatar in `Gulab Gang`

Watch Bollywood divas Madhuri and Juhi - in a war of good v/s
evil in the latest poster and trailer of 'Gulaab Gang'

The makers of the Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla starrer - Gulaab Gang-
have released the film's high-octane trailer along with its brand
new poster.

Capturing the intensity of the movie, the trailer with its perfect mix
of action and gripping dialogues, give the audience a glimpse of
what happens when two icons of Bollywood come together onscreen,
setting it ablaze. Gulaab Gang will show both the actresses in a
brand new avatar, where one stands for justice and the other for
political power.

The colorful poster encompasses the ruthless war of good v/s evil
in the film, precisely, into words- 'Is Holi gulaal nahi, Lahu bahega'.
How their destinies intertwine and result in the most unexpected
outcome, is what the trailer leaves you wondering.

Produced by Anubhav Sinha, Gulaab Gang is presented by Sahara Movie
Studios & Bharat Shah and is a Benaras Mediaworks production,
directed by Soumik Sen. Starring Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla,
the movie will hit theatres on March 7th, 2014.

`Gulaab Gang` maker`s gang robbery?
Even though his film 'Gulaab Gang' is similar to Nishtha Jain's documentary based on the pink saree gang in Uttar Pradesh, Soumik Sen is in no mood to give credit to Jain

Sohum Shah and Anand Gandhi are backing the release of the documentary Gulabi Gang that will release just before Soumik Sen's film 'Gulaab Gang'.

Directed by Nishtha Jain, the documentary is set to release on February 21 and it is said that Sen's film has drawn inspiration from this documentary.

A source says, `Soumik and his team have referenced this documentary extensively as it was shot two years ago and has already been to many film festivals. But ironically, the documentary was not getting much support here. Moreover, Gulaab Gang's makers have not taken permission to make a film on the life of Sampat Pal, who leads this group of pink sari clad women in real-life.`

Seeing the lack of support for the documentary, Sohum and Anand decided to present the same. `Documentaries often do not get a proper platform. Our own film, 'Ship Of Theseus', saw a theatrical release because of Kiran Rao's support. Now we are taking the opportunity to help Nishtha.

However, I am not sure if Soumik has copied anything from the documentary as I haven't seen his film,` says Sohum, adding that there is no hidden agenda behind releasing the documentary ahead of Sen's film that releases on March 7.

Sen's film stars Madhuri Dixit in the lead role and Juhi Chawla as the antagonist. Upon being contacted, the filmmaker denied drawing inspiration from the documentary. `My film is a work of fiction,` Sen said. However, another source insists, `There are a few incidents in the film which are rooted in reality and are strikingly similar to Sampat's story.`

Sonakshi Opts Out Of Subhash Ghai's Film

Sonakshi Opts Out Of Subhash Ghai's Film

Sonakshi Opts Out Of Subhash Ghai`s Film

Showman Subhash Ghai ,facing some hard times with his recent films not doing so well, discovered the hard way when Sonakshi Sinha decided to unceremoniously walk out of Subhash Ghai's proposed film on Sarabjit Singh, the Indan soldier held in Pakistan for spying.

The reason being given out is that she is too young to play Sarabjit's sister.

A prominent director gives a completely different picture of Sonakshi's change of heart regarding the Sarabjit project. `It's surprising because not only Sonakshi but the entire family was very excited about Sonakshi's role as Sarabjit Singh's sister. They said Sonakshi wept when she heard the script. The entire story of Sarabjit's predicament unfolds through the sister's character.`

Subhash Ghai chooses to give his mooh-boli bhanji a clean chit.

Says Ghai, `Sonakshi sent us a message that it was too early in her career for her to play the elderly part of Sarabjit's sister .She is right. It is a part of a mature woman and my director Ishwar Singh Muchchal is very particular about the correct actors and casting.`

Ghai says this abrupt departure doesn't diminish his love for the Sinha parivar. `Shatru is my close family friend for 35 years.Sonakshi is like my daughter. She is a good actor and a nice girl. She has every right to give a second thought to a project to safeguard her career interests.I wish all the best.`

Then Ghai adds, `Sonakshi heard the script and loved it. She only gave her vocal consent and did not sign the contract. We wanted to sign her only after Amitji agreed to play the role of a lawyer. This did not happen because Amitji is doing a lawyer's role in another film.`

'Gulaab Gang' makers' confidence surprised Juhi Chawla

`Gulaab Gang` makers` confidence surprised Juhi Chawla

Actress Juhi Chawla plays a negative character in Anubhav Sinha's production venture "Gulaab Gang" and says she was surprised by the makers' confidence in her to pull it off.

Based on a woman's grit and determination, the film sees Madhuri Dixit in the lead while Juhi will be seen as an antagonist. Directed by Soumik Sen, it also features Mahie Gill and Tannishtha Chatterjee.

"'Gulaab Gang' is a very interesting film. I was startled when I heard the script because first of all it was a very strong film and the second thing was my negative role in it. I was like, 'What has happened to the director and producer that they want me for the role? How did they think that I can do the role?" Juhi said in an interview.

"But when I gave it a thought and talked to them, I liked it and thought it would be a different experience for me if I will do it," added the star of films like "Darr" and "Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke".

A birdie chirps that Chitrangada Singh was all eyes on Salman Khan at the celebrity cricket tourney in Dubai recently while Sallu was busy conversing with Huma Qureshi.

Sohail Khan kept himself busy clicking pictures, for posterity sake.

Incidentally, Sallu's bearded look is for Sajid Nadiadwala's upcoming film Kick for which he is currently shooting.

John-Priya Wedding Secret: Why the sudden announcement?

John-Priya Wedding Secret: Why the sudden announcement?

John-Priya Wedding Secret: Why the sudden announcement?
Saturday, January 04, 2014 10:55 IST
While sources say John Abraham has already been married to Priya, others say it was a recent impulsive decision. Some even speculate that Priya is in the family way

Like his buddy cricketer MS Dhoni whose marriage came as a bolt from the blue, John Abraham has done likewise. Early yesterday, he took to the social network site, Twitter, to state, `Wishing you and your loved ones a blessed 2014! May this year bring you love, good fortune and joy. Love, John and Priya Abraham.`

Signing off as John and Priya Abraham made B-Town go in a tizzy that the star was single no more.

While John did not reveal details about the big hint he dropped, there has been speculations about what prompted him to suddenly spill the beans after playing safe all this while. Sources state that he was already married in December 2011 and felt it's time to announce it in the New Year. While others maintain his decision could apparently be because Priya could be in the family way.

John was snapped at Mumbai airport on December 28 enroute to the US where he was to usher in the New Year with Priya. Ever since the two were spotted together in 2011, after his split with long-time girlfriend Bipasha Basu, there have been murmurs that the star had tied the knot with Priya. He preferred to remain guarded about his personal life.

Though those in the know claimed that he had met her at the gym which Bipasha and he frequented, John preferred to remain tightlipped about the woman in his life. Later, however, he revealed a bit about Priya, saying that she was a banker, her folks lived in the US and that he met her through common friends -- a lot was still left to conjecture.

In November 2011, he had come out in the open to HitList about the special woman in his life. Some sources had then said that John is fiercely guarded about Priya because he regretted being open about his earlier love story with Bipasha. Now that he has announced it, looks like John's inhibitions are finally down and he is open about accepting the relationship.

The star is slated to be back in Mumbai soon.

Exposed Again! Tanisha and Armaan indulging in some dirty talks
Mired by controversies, season 7 of Bigg Boss may be struggling hard to fetch a good TRP, but there is one couple in the house whose gossip cog seems to be rotating at a rapid pace ever-since the onset of the show.

Yes you got it right we are talking about Armaan and Tanisha, whose ongoing romance has not only added spice to the seventh season of the show but at the same time created a lot of ripples in the grapevine.

After the reports about duo's getting caught in somewhat awkward position a forthright ago numerous speculations made it to gossip arena, out of which a few favored the reports whereas other refuted the buzz. And in the absence of some concrete evidences the buzz subsequently turned into run of the mill.

But this time couple is once again caught indulging in some suggestive filthy talk and that too on camera.

Although dabbled in somewhat sleaze, conversational mannerism of the duo especially that of Armaan up-till an extent suggests that both of them are talking about something risque, but obviously it won't be fair to infer anything on the basis of just a video.

Hence we leave it to our viewers to decide and perceive the latent thoughts hidden behind conversation. So stay tuned guys for some more explosive revelations coming from Bigg Boss house.

Bollywood celebs and their brush with the law in 2013

Bollywood celebs and their brush with the law in 2013

Bollywood celebs and their brush with the law in 2013
Thursday, December 05, 2013 12:24 IST
Several personalities from showbiz this year found themselves embroiled in criminal activities, one way or the other

They say karma eventually catches up with you. Well, law is quicker in this particular race, especially if the parties in question are famous. What happens later with the system -- influence on the defendants' part as usual -- remains debatable but as a starter, it's encouraging to see even the celebrities go through the regular grind when caught on the undesired side of law. For instance, actor Rajpal Yadav was recently sent straightway to jail for fraud. However, it's also worth noting that celebs aren't always wrong. Sometimes they are wronged as well.

HitList points out instances from both ends of the spectrum that happened in 2013...

Underworld calling

Crime scenario: Just when we were made to believe that Mumbai's underworld has bid goodbye to Bollywood, some B-Town folks started receiving calls and SMSes -- filled with extortion and death threats, of course -- from the mafia. Producer Boney Kapoor and singer Sonu Nigam were the earliest to register a complaint. Later, Akshay Kumar and Karan Johar too pointed out that they were being harassed by organised crime syndicates in the city.

Sanjay Dutt jailed

Crime scenario:
In March, the Supreme Court upheld Dutt's five-year sentence -- 18 months of which he had already spent in jail during thje trial -- for possessing illegal arms during the 1993 bomb blasts. He was granted four weeks to surrender to the authorities. So much so, in mid-May, Dutt withdrew his long-pending mercy plea and finally surrendered to the Mumbai Police. Presently serving his sentence, he was allowed to leave on an extended parole in October on medical grounds.

Shruti Haasan's stalker

Crime scenario:
Last month, the Bandra police arrested Ashok Shankar Trimukhe accused of stalking Shruti Haasan. He was booked under Indian Penal Code sections 452 (house trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 354D (stalking). He reportedly tried to force his way in and touched her shoulder when Shruti answered the door bell of her Bandra flat. She later filed an FIR.

Om Puri's 'domestic abuse'
Crime scenario:
The critically acclaimed actor was booked under Section 324 (punishment for causing hurt by dangerous means), Section 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and Section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code, for allegedly assaulting his wife Nandita at his apartment in Andheri. She complained that he assaulted her with a wooden stick. He was initially declared absconding but later filed an anticipatory bail.

Sana Khan kidnap case

Crime scenario:
The Bombay High Court refused to a quash a police case against the actress for her alleged involvement in the kidnapping of a minor girl -- with whom her nephew was romantically involved in. As per the evidence shown at the court, Sana's car was used in the crime. The actress, who rose to fame thanks to Bigg Boss, was earlier granted anticipatory bail in June. Regardless, she will be starring opposite Salman Khan in the upcoming film Jai Ho

The Jiah Khan case
Crime scenario:
This murder/suicide episode still remains a mystery, with new twists adding to the intrigue every passing month. When the young actress was found dead in her apartment and a suicide note found few days later, an abortion and the resulting depression were considered to be the trigger. As a result, Sooraj Pancholi, who was allegedly in a live-in relationship with Jiah, was taken into custody. However, he was later granted bail.

Vindu Dara Singh arrested

Crime scenario:
Mumbai police nabbed Vindu Dara Singh for suspected links with those involved in the alleged spot-fixing during Indian Premier League. According to the police, the actor had links to bookies who were arrested in the crackdown. With Vindu's arrest, the cricket-underworld-Bollywood trio's culpability in betting took formidable shape.

Akshaye Khanna cheated

Crime scenario:
All those wondering where has this 'serious' actor disappeared all of a sudden were greeted with unpleasant news in October. Turns out Akshaye was reportedly duped of Rs 50 lakh after being promised quick and huge returns from investments in the commodity market. The crime branch of Mumbai police got into action and investigated the complaint filed by him at the Malabar police station.

Samir Karnik tax evasion
Crime scenario:
Bollywood producer and director was arrested by Service Tax Department for alleged tax evasion of Rs 1.18 crore and was later released on bail by a court. The anti-evasion team found that Karnik had provided copyright services for R11.50 crore to a film distribution company in respect of Yamla Pagla Deewana. Sunny Deol too was accused in the case but he was not arrested as he paid R86 lakh out of the R1.95 crore tax demand against his firm.

Santoshi-Nadiadwala fallout
Crime scenario:
Not only actors, even producers have their share of tiffs over films and the commerce behind them. In August, Sajid Nadiadwala reportedly barged into Rajkumar Santoshi's home, threatening him and thus creating a scene. Due to which, Santoshi ended up filing an FIR against him. That was then. The latest development in their three-year-long dispute is that they have finally made peace with each other.

Leela Maria Paul's arrest
Crime scenario:
This Southern actress who made her Bollywood debut with John Abraham's Madras Cafe, was arrested for illegal possession of arms, fraud and conspiracy. After her arrest in May, she was granted conditional bail in July. At the time of her arrest, the Kerala-born starlet, along with her partner-in-crime boyfriend Sukash Chandrasekhar, had nine luxury cars worth Rs 20 crore in their possession.

Hear hear!
Some cases against actors that are or were pending...

>> A 2008 assault case against Govinda was ultimately squashed last month. The actor had slapped a fan of his for getting too close; following which, the fan filed a complaint. However, the court ruled in the actor's favour.

>> The sessions court in Mumbai will decide today whether there should be a fresh trial with fresh evidence in the 2002 case against actor Salman Khan after graver charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder was added.

>> Sonali Bendre and Tabu were produced on Monday before a court in Jodhpur by the defence for their identification by a witness in the black buck poaching case of 1998. Interestingly, the eyewitness turned hostile by refusing to identify.

>> In September, the Bombay High Court said the complaint filed by a social activist against Shah rukh khan and his wife Gauri -- accusing the couple of conducting sex determination of their surrogate child -- was unfounded.
